Woodstock Town Hall

Nature of Work: Extensive exterior and interior renovations and upgrades to the Town Offices, including new windows, new vaults, new restrooms, and exterior masonry.

Location: Woodstock, Vermont

This 1894 structure had fallen on hard times. When we started, the town's office spaces were marginal, the theater condemned for all uses except movies and protected storage, public restrooms and access for the handicapped non-existent. Parts of the building’s structure was literally falling apart.

Over the course of a couple of years we worked to correct all of these shortcomings. In addition to the demands of highly specialized restoration and theater trades, the project was complicated by phased construction and the need to bill elements of the project to three independent owner groups, each of whom had their own demands and methods. 

The first phase involved exterior masonry, a new cornice, new storm windows, two vaults, remodeling the first-floor offices, installing new restrooms, repairing the roof, and painting the exterior. While the interior work was underway, the Town decided to proceed with exterior repairs. The next phase was the remodel of second-floor offices, including a new hot water heating system, plumbing, wiring, and an installation of storm windows.
