Red Clover Commons
Nature of Work: New construction of 55-unit, 3-story affordable senior housing community
Location: Brattleboro, Vermont
Sitting on a 2.8-acre site, Red Clover Commons houses about two-thirds of the residents of Melrose Terrace, a public housing complex that flooded during Tropical Storm Irene. The energy efficient 3-story building offers a total of 55 apartments — 53 one-bedroom and 2 two-bedroom units — for seniors and those of any age with disabilities.
Red Clover Commons was built set back from a commercial area, within walking distance to Brattleboro Memorial Hospital, a pharmacy, and a supermarket. Residents have access to a common kitchen, dining area, community gardens, and onsite services through the Support and Services at Home (SASH) program.
