Trumbull-Nelson is serving as Construction Manager for the expansion of the 125-year old St. Thomas Episcopal Church, in Hanover, NH. Earlier this year, the Company finished some office fit-up work within Edgerton House, the Church student center.
The Church moved forward with the Project upon completion of parish-wide deliberation on how to best meet its current and anticipated facility needs. The initial impetus for this work was a need to provide access to disabled parishioners, and to provide better classroom space. Early planning sessions pointed to other pressing needs, including handicap provisions and corridor to improve traffic flow and provide casual meeting space; an enlarged, single-level chancel to relieve a presently crowded, multi-level space; a gathering room to permit more people to gather for parish meetings, meals, and coffee hours; and a modern kitchen. Available funding, cost considerations and easement issues created the need to revise early plans that called for a Narthex. The building team’s value engineering efforts are helping to keep the Project within budget, while meeting the need for classroom construction, a larger nursery, and more efficient offices for clergy and other church staff.
Trumbull-Nelson is proud to be a part of this unique Church Project, and appreciates the opportunity to work with St. Thomas Church Building Committee members and Architect Rick Monahon. |
