Nature of Work: 11,250 SF new construction
Location: Lebanon, New Hampshire
A kind-hearted, terminally ill 5-year-old boy named David Cyr entrusted his parents, friends, and neighbors with fulfilling a wish that all children receiving ongoing medical care at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, and their families, would have the same comfort of a near-by home as he and his family did. From that wish, David's House came to be and Trumbull-Nelson completed renovations to a spacious and charming antique home in Hanover, New Hampshire that, for a time, met the Cyr family’s specifications.
Following Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center’s move to Lebanon, New Hampshire, the need arose for David’s House to also move in order to maintain the desired closeness of the home to the Hospital.
Trumbull-Nelson built the new 11,250 square foot home-away-from-home, which was financed with donated money from the local and regional community. There are 13 bedrooms with adjacent living, eating, cooking spaces, 2 live-in apartments, administration offices and casual recreation spaces integrated on 3 levels on a sloping site.
David's House is a member of the National Association of Hospital Hospitality Houses.
