Biotech-Verax through Novo Nordisk

Over many decades, Trumbull-Nelson has worked with various biotech firms to construct facilities, labs, and clean room spaces. T-N’s first biotech construction project was a 60,000 square foot Butler Manufacturing™ facility with laboratories and clean room space for Verax Corporation, which was later purchased by Creative BioMolecules. 

Other high-tech, research or lab-related work includes:

• 9,000 square foot fit-up for Biogen, Inc., in West Lebanon, NH involving a Gelsolin Purification Facility;
• extensive research laboratory fit-up work for GlycoFi Inc., in Lebanon, NH; and
• various Class 100,000, Class 10,000 and Class 100 clean room spaces for Creative BioMolecules in West Lebanon, NH and Hopkinton, MA, and later Stryker Biotech in West Lebanon. 

It should be noted that the above firms maintained a secure site requiring access control and close tracking of everyone on site because of the proprietary nature of products being manufactured. Fifteen of T-N’s field and supervisory personnel have been certified for security and gowning procedures for working in clean room environments. 

Trumbull-Nelson teamed with Turner Construction on a significant expansion at Stryker Biotech. Turner Construction selected T-N to provide on-site supervision of trades, perform all General Conditions work, and provide selective demolition, cutting and patching. Due to its previous experience at Stryker Biotech and its high level of professionalism, T-N was Stryker Biotech’s first choice to integrate this ambitious addition to the existing facility.

When Stryker Biotech was acquired by Olympus Biotech, Olympus chose to continue the relationship with Trumbull-Nelson, undertaking multiple projects ranging from a process development lab to an aseptic filling facility.

The Olympus campus and buildings were purchased by Novo Nordisk. Turner Construction was brought on board, completely overhauling the facilities to meet Novo Nordisk’s R&D, manufacturing, and storage standards and requirements. Trumbull-Nelson is playing a key role throughout multiple projects and phases, working both for Turner and directly for Novo Nordisk.
