Sound
the alarm! The construction trade is ageing and
losing talented, capable personnel to retirement.
And young people… they just don’t see construction
as a viable career choice.
Not so fast! Conditions are not so dire!! The fact
is that many of tomorrow’s aspiring builders,
engineers, designers and contractors are currently
participating in various construction management and
trade program within numerous educational
institutions located throughout the country. And
these individuals will certainly have a positive
impact on the business and industry in the years
ahead.
Trumbull-Nelson, not without its fair share of
grayish domes and receding hairlines, certainly
appreciates the benefits that seasoned, experienced
personnel bring to the work process. But a company
that seek business longevity and wishes to
effectively compete and prosper in tomorrow’s
marketplace recognizes the need to continually hire
young, energetic personnel with training, who are
attuned to today’s most sophisticated construction
methods. Over the years, Trumbull-Nelson has turned
to places like Vermont Technical College, in
Randolph, Vermont for such job candidates.
One of the company’s newest hires and recent
graduates of Vermont Technical College (VTC) is
Anthony (Tony) Instasi. Tony, who is serving
Trumbull-Nelson and its clients as an estimator and
project manager, earned an Associate Degree in
Construction Practice and Management at the School.
For Tony, VTC was an important stepping-stone,
nestled between his participation in a high school
building trades program and summer work as a
carpenter with a Canaan (VT) based contractor, and
his current position with Trumbull-Nelson. The
School helped prepare Tony for the rigors of his
current position. He brings a strong understanding
of blueprints, and technical knowledge of how
structures are built; essential elements to
effectively review and assess each building project
under his review.
Tony grew up in Stewartstown, NH. For those
unfamiliar with New Hampshire geography,
Stewartstown is near Colebrook—and darn close to the
Canadian border! This northern location has afforded
him ample opportunity to pursue his many
recreational interests, including hunting, skiing
and camping. Commuting distance to his Upper Valley
workplace prompted his decision to secure housing in
Lebanon, NH. Although early morning traffic on Rt.
120 between Lebanon and Hanover can offer
challenges, there is far less chance of sharing the
highway with a wayward moose!
Tony really enjoys working with each Trumbull-Nelson
client, and excels at the challenge of meeting the
customer’s budget requirement. What makes the job
particularly interesting and rewarding for him? “I
really enjoy the teamwork within the office. If I
need something, I know I can ask…and if the project
management staff needs something, I do my best to
help them out.”
Sounds like a young man with a great future in the
business! Trumbull-Nelson appreciates Tony’s hard
work and positive approach to all estimating and
project management tasks. He is the sort of spirited
individual that is helping move the business and
industry in a forward direction.
