This year,
as we look back on our first 90 years of
construction, we’ve had the chance to consider the
impact we have made in the towns and cities where we
live and work. We’re proud to see buildings we’ve
completed all around us. As we close in on our first
full century, we want to continue to be directly
involved with both the creation of strong
foundations for the buildings themselves, and also
the communities that use them.
We decided to focus this issue of Constructive
Images on building community in the Upper Valley.
There couldn’t be a better way to start than with a
Question and Answer session with Len Cadwallader,
Executive Director of Vital Communities. Len has
become the “go-to guy” and an extremely valuable
resource for anyone looking to understand the way
seemingly divergent regional issues are
interrelated. Today, Vital Communities is a
significant force in helping us recognize and
address the root causes of the growing pains our
communities are facing now, and may face in the
future.
The articles in this issue range from transportation
and housing solutions, to educational, artistic, and
industrial projects. We are particularly proud when
we can play a role in helping a “home grown”
company, such as Pompanoosuc Mills, continue to
compete internationally, as well as when we can help
a valuable community resource, like the AVA Gallery,
create a space that is both attractive and sensitive
to the environment.
Thank you to all of the members of this community
that have made our
90 years here so special.
I hope you enjoy reading these stories, and please
call us if we can assist you with your building
needs.
