Venture
into Trumbull-Nelson’s Yard location at 200 Lebanon
Street in Hanover during normal business hours and
two things quickly become evident: you are witness
to a beehive of work activity, and there is
overriding order within this perceived chaos.
Apparent is the sense of focused action by workmen.
And as for the materials that serve them, each item
seems to have its position and place.
Jeff Morris, Trumbull-Nelson’s Yard Foreman, knows
how to work through the ‘buzz’ often associated with
the concurrence of demands made by managers,
superintendents, supervisors and office staff, for
warehoused building materials and project resources.
He knows Trumbull-Nelson’s Yard, and how to make it
work! Jeff had some good training, having worked
with former Yard Foreman Robbie Robinson for 15
years. Robbie retired from Trumbull-Nelson in 2003,
after more than 40 years with the Company. By such
standards, Jeff is merely a “youngster,” celebrating
only 18 years of work with Trumbull-Nelson! Jeff
credits Robbie as one of his mentors.
Originally from Livermore Falls, Maine, Jeff
currently resides with his family in Orford, NH.
Work opportunities originally brought him to the
Upper Valley from his Maine home 18 years ago. Then,
and now, this area provided abundant work
opportunities for those interested in construction
work. Jeff completed a variety of work for
Trumbull-Nelson when he first came onboard. His
early tasks included general labor and delivery
person. He enjoys his work as Yard Foreman, but
admits that it’s not without its challenges; it’s
not easy trying to keep everyone happy! And with 10
or more construction projects going on at any one
time, making sure that materials are properly
inventoried and readily accessible can be… well,
work! But the Trumbull-Nelson friendships and the
camaraderie that has developed over the years make
it very worthwhile.
Outside of work, Jeff lives a pretty active life as
a hunter, fisherman, 4-wheeler, and renovator (of
his family home). But mostly, he enjoys spending
time with his kids. Jeff has 3 children and a
grandchild: sons, Scott and Corey; daughter, Jesse;
and granddaughter Emma Christeen. He shares parental
responsibilities with his partner, Joanne. Lately,
the meaning of family is taking on greater
significance, as Jeff has learned that his son,
Scott, currently serving in the Air Force in Italy,
might be going to Iraq in October. We wish him well
in this, and all endeavors.
Trumbull-Nelson respects the fine work done by Jeff
Morris, and all the people who help him to bring
order to the sometime chaotic construction material
supply process. It’s good to have a guy like Jeff
Morris keeping an eye on things!
Nate
Carey To Direct Millwork Sales
Trumbull-Nelson Construction Company recently
announced the appointment of Nate Carey to the
position of Director of Millwork Sales. Nate has
been with the Company for 15 years, initially
working as Millwork Shop bench carpenter to become
Shop manager. He later held the position of
Purchasing Agent and Director of Operations.
Nate, who suggests that his building career began at
age 5, ‘learned the ropes’ from his Grand-father. In
later years, he developed and refined his carpentry
and construction skills by buying and selling
single-family homes, often described as
“fixer-uppers.” Undoubtedly, such efforts improved
his technical skills, and helped him to develop an
appreciation for good dollar value.
Mr. Carey’s interesting experience and background
includes work as a police officer, serving the
residents of Lebanon, NH for 12 years.
At Trumbull-Nelson, Nate hopes to concentrate his
energy on promoting the experience and talent of
T-N’s millwork staff, and the Company’s
well-equipped Custom Woodworking and Millwork Shop.
