Happy 2007!

I hope this winter issue of Constructive Images finds you well and as excited about the start of a new year as we are here at Trumbull-Nelson. This past year brought us a diverse scope of projects, and to people as passionate about the industry as we are, that means much satisfaction.

Over the course of 2006 we were called upon to build one school, restore another, and bring yet another two up to Code through additions and renovations. We restored a 200-year-old house and created a neighborhood in a matter of months. We also rebuilt a historic building that had been damaged by fire, design/built a municipal highway department facility, and much, much more.

No two jobs are alike, and somehow, as the industry changes, they seem to get more interesting. Among other trends at the front of the industry curve is the growing initiative to “think green.” In this issue of Constructive Images we have included two pieces on the design and construction of sustainable and green businesses and homes. I hope you’ll take the time to read these very interesting articles.

In 2006 we were involved in several adaptive-reuse projects. Among our favorites were those that not only resulted in savings of waste material and natural resources, but also impacted the community in other positive ways. In taking an old school in Claremont and transforming it into attractive condos, we were entrusted to add to the momentum of a town making great strides. By restoring the Wilder Block building in Brattleboro, we were given the opportunity to help that fine city rebuild a gateway to their city and a connection to their past.

Everyone at Trumbull-Nelson, including those who work with us, finds this type of work rewarding. We’re all aware of the positive impact it has on others and the surrounding community. Leading the way for, and helping, our community is what our Company is all about. It’s what we will continue to do, it’s why we publish this magazine, and it’s probably why we’ve been around for 90 years.

I wish you much success in the coming year, and please keep in touch.

Best regards,

Larry Ufford
