Brett brings over 18 years of building experience to Company projects. He began work in residential construction as a framer, and soon worked his way into his own residential building and renovation business. Business ownership came with its own set of challenges, including “chasing receivables”. After a few years as a business proprietor, Brett ventured into the realm of commercial building, joining a larger Massachusetts-based general contracting company. One of the company’s projects happened to be located in the Upper Valley, and Brett relocated to this area to participate in the work. As fate would have it, he met his wife, Dorene, during this period and decided to make this area his permanent home. And upon completion of the Upper Valley project, he signed-on with Trumbull-Nelson. An avid outdoor enthusiast, Brett enjoys the many recreational amenities offered within Vermont and New Hampshire. In Trumbull-Nelson, he found a company that offered the work challenges he sought, based within an area offering ample opportunities to pursue his favorite outside interests – fishing, hiking and camping. If you ask Brett to discuss his most challenging and memorable building project, he may mention a recently completed, large-scale residential project, where he served as Assistant Supervisor. An extensive landscape plan required that Carey bring surveying skill and knowledge to the task. And his leadership skills were utilized in managing a large number of subcontractors who were associated with the building construction. Trumbull-Nelson has become a successful construction company as a result of the skill and commitment of individuals like Brett Carey. Brett and his wife, Dorene, reside in Fairlee. They have three daughters; Ashleigh, Aaron and Alexandria, and one son, Devon. As one would expect, family matters keep both parents quite busy!
