Viewed from an insider’s perspective, the construction industry is in constant motion. The art and science of building superior commercial, residential and institutional facilities, and excellent customer service programs in today’s marketplace requires that companies establish systems to closely monitor change, and respond as necessary. One area closely monitored by Trumbull-Nelson involves issues of workplace safety. We recognize the continued, critical need for such information to help us to continually assess and implement proper safety procedures. No concern is deemed more relevant or crucial to Company personnel. Knowing what creates a safe work environment, and developing a corporate culture that highly values safety can be separate matters. How does a company communicate the importance of safety to organizational members, and also to their clients? A variety of methods are employed at Trumbull-Nelson. A company newsletter, the T-N Times, communicates safety-related information to employees on a quarterly basis. Also, Trumbull-Nelson supports employee training and development in all aspects of safety, including First Aid and CPR certified training. A Joint Loss Management Committee, consisting of field and office supervisory personnel meet on a regular basis to discuss safety issues and implement new ideas. In the field, crews receive training from sources that include vendors, safety consultants and site supervisors. Site safety inspections occur on a regular basis, as do safety meetings. And all subcontractors receive a copy of Trumbull-Nelson’s Safety Policies. It is the responsibility of each Project Manager to inform and educate each client on safety matters, and to help them recognize the benefits associated with safety, such as financial risk reduction, enhanced productivity and worker commitment. Trumbull-Nelson believes that accident prevention is an essential and vital ingredient of the Company’s operations. Complying with Safety and Health Standards set by such agencies as Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is a given. Our continued commitment to safety will include efforts to anticipate risk, encourage work personnel to make safety a top priority and personal responsibility, and pass along any and all associated benefits to our valued customers.
