Efficiency is Our Way of Life

Today fuel and energy costs are front of mind for almost everyone we meet. At Trumbull-Nelson we’ve had the opportunity to work with emerging technologies as well as creative engineers and architects to deliver attractive, energy-efficient structures to our clients, who in turn reap the benefit of their “green” investment with decades of efficient use and monetary savings.

Recently we’ve had the opportunity to integrate a wide range of new technologies into our building programs from the LEED-certified renovation of the AVA Gallery in Lebanon to the projects highlighted in this issue, which feature geothermal heating and a new super-efficient wood pellet boiler to heat a complete planned community.

In coming issues we will also let you know a bit more about some of the green aspects of other current projects, including the new addition and renovation to Thetford Academy designed by Banwell Architects. This project features a high-performance structure with a focus on efficient heating and lighting systems along with a super-insulated building envelope. You’ll hear about the new Lyme Road Co-op Community Market designed by UK Architects in Hanover, New Hampshire, which takes advantage of geothermal heating and cooling. Plus, in Lebanon, New Hampshire, we’re just getting underway constructing a new retail space on Mechanic Street, designed by Barrett Architects for Ed Kerrigan, proprietor of the recently completed Jake’s Coffee Shop and Car Wash. Just as the car wash utilizes state-of-the-art technology to maximize efficiency in the use of water and the control of waste products, new closed-cell foam insulation in the building envelope will pay back their investment in efficiency for years to come.

If you are looking for ways to make your next construction project more energy efficient and environmentally friendly, from renovations to new construction we have some great ideas to share with you. I invite you to give us a call to talk about any projects, big or small, that you think deserve the attention to detail and absolute quality that Trumbull-Nelson delivers every day.
